Sometimes students think that the rules of the body don't apply to them. Sometimes adults have fallen into the trap of believing that adolescents and children are 'digital natives' and that the laws of the universe have suddenly changed for them in the past twenty years or so.
It is part of our responsibility to remind them that this isn't the case, and that science proves that it isn't. Part of this may be reminding students who are part of a flipped learning programme that the learning should finish well before sleep time; an hour before would be appropriate. The more often they hear the message, and the more evidence that we provide, the greater the possibility that the message will sink in. (I am an optimist!)
It is also something I need to be aware of, and this is a timely reminder for me as well. :-)
